Festus Akinbusoye: GUEST SPEAKER EVENT

We are delighted to welcome Festus Akinbusoye to the Club for what promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking evening exploring his journey, public service and vision for the future of London.

Festus Akinbusoye is a Westminster City Councillor and was Britain’s first Black Police and Crime Commissioner. Alongside his public service, he is a successful entrepreneur, running his own business which employs nearly forty people across England, Scotland and Wales.

Born in Nigeria, Festus came to England at the age of 13 and grew up on a council estate in Newham, East London. His personal journey, from arriving in the UK as a teenager to becoming a senior public figure, business leader and elected representative, has shaped his strong belief in the importance of opportunity, aspiration and community.

In this engaging evening, Festus will reflect on his experiences in public life, business and policing, and share his vision for a London where people can afford to build a life, feel safe in their communities and have the opportunity to succeed regardless of where they live.

With London facing significant challenges around housing, crime, affordability, opportunity and public services, Festus will explore what he believes is needed to make the capital a safer, more affordable and more prosperous place for Londoners.

There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion following the talk.
