Starting on November 22nd, Club member Jonathan Rowson, former three-time British Chess Champion, and author of The Moves that Matter: A Chess Grandmaster on the Game of Life is happy to host a weekly informal chess gathering called 'Beer and Blitz'. 

Beer you will know about, and although it's not compulsory on the night, it is encouraged, and the bar will be happy to help. Blitz chess is where each side has five minutes or less to complete the whole game. Again, this is also not compulsory, and if you want to play slower games you can. The point is to use the enjoyment of chess to make good use of facilities and attract new people to the club. The first few weeks before Christmas will be informal, but we anticipate there will be scope to create tournaments and training in the New Year.

Please can you let Sarah know, by emailing secretary@winchesterhouseclub.com if you intend to come along, then we can set up enough boards and tables. There will be no charge to members to join, but a charge of £10 per guest.
